Common questions
- Does Arin give products a score?
- No. A single number can make a permitted ingredient look dangerous. Instead we list findings per product: which ingredient sits on which list, under what condition it is restricted, and who should take care.
- Where does the information come from?
- The European Commission CosIng database, CIR expert panel reports, IARC and ECHA lists, PubChem and peer-reviewed literature. Every ingredient page names its source and year.
- If an ingredient is on an EU list, should I avoid it?
- A list entry is not a verdict on its own. Most entries are limited to a product type, a concentration or a way of use. Our pages show the condition and the date of each restriction.
- How does product scanning work?
- In the app you scan the barcode or the ingredient list. The list is read, each ingredient is matched against the database and findings are assessed in the context of that product. Product pages on this site come from those scans.
