When you see 'Alcohol' on a cosmetic label, it is the same substance you drink: ethanol. However, the version used in cosmetics is usually denatured, meaning it has been made undrinkable. That is why it may also appear as 'Alcohol Denat.' or 'Ethyl Alcohol' on the label.
