How this site is made

Where does the information come from?

Assessments on ingredient pages are compiled from publicly available regulatory sources. Our principal sources are CIR (Cosmetic Ingredient Review, US), SCCS (EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety), ECHA (European Chemicals Agency), IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) and PubChem.

Ingredient pages list the sources their assessment rests on, by name and, where available, with a direct link. Where the regulatory record is too thin, no assessment is written.

Research articles explain those records: they present no new findings, they put the data from the ingredient page in context. Every regulatory decision mentioned in an article is documented, with its source, on the corresponding ingredient page.

When an ingredient has too little regulatory record behind it, the page still exists but is closed to search engines: we do not produce pages when we have nothing verified to say.

What role does AI play?

Draft texts are prepared with AI assistance. Its job is to turn structured data from the sources above into readable prose, not the assessments themselves.

AI does not always do this flawlessly. If you find a statement that contradicts its source, overstates it, or is simply wrong, tell us; we correct it and change the page’s updated date.

Who is responsible?

Arin is founded and published by Ahmed Mert Toy. We claim no expertise in cosmetic chemistry, dermatology or toxicology. Our work is not to produce expert opinion but to compile the public decisions of expert bodies and make them accessible.

That is what the "Arin Editorial" byline means: the wording is ours, the assessment belongs to the regulatory body named on the page.

What we do not claim

Arin does not provide medical advice, diagnose, or recommend treatment. An ingredient looking "safe" or "risky" does not tell you how it will behave on your skin - dose, concentration in the product, how it is used, and individual sensitivity all decide that.

If you have a skin concern, see a clinician. Nothing on this site substitutes for that.

Privacy and cookies

Arin shows no advertising and uses no third-party tracking (Google Analytics, Facebook pixel, and the like). Measurement runs on our own server.

Your browser stores only a randomly generated visitor number, used to count which pages are viewed. It is not linked to your identity. No cookies are set; the value lives in your browser’s local storage. Clearing site data deletes it, and it cannot be matched again afterwards.

We do not collect your name, email or location as you browse.
