The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution is a dry skin serum formulated to unclog pores and treat blackheads and cystic acne. The salicylic acid in it helps break and shed dead skin cells, promoting skin renewal. Since it is anhydrous (dry), it is oil-based and does not leave a greasy feel on the skin. Squalane, a natural oil, moisturizes and softens the skin. Salicylic acid is used here at up to 2.0%, which falls within the permitted limits depending on skin type. Phenoxyethanol is included as a preservative to prevent microbial growth and is allowed up to 1.0% under EU cosmetic regulations, which is within the safe range used in this product.
