Astra InstaLength Long-Wear Mascara is a mascara designed to lengthen and volumize eyelashes, giving the appearance of longer and fuller lashes. Microcrystalline wax and carnauba wax in its formula help set and shape the lashes; glyceryl stearate and lecithin provide a smooth emulsion for a creamy texture. Film-forming polyvinyl alcohol ensures the lashes stay in place without clumping. Antioxidant-rich ascorbyl palmitate and tocopherol prevent oils from oxidizing. Since it's applied around the eyes, exposure is low and the formulation is carefully adjusted to avoid eye contact. The BHT in this product appears on the European Union’s list of substances that may affect the endocrine system; however, it is used here in limited amounts (below 0.1%) within legal limits. Additionally, while triethanolamine has shown some endocrine activity in animal studies under laboratory conditions, the amount used in this product is very low and does not remain on the skin for long. Its fragrance-free design minimizes irritation risk even for sensitive areas around the eyes.
